Academy Etiquette

Welcome to British Dance Academy, where respect and professionalism inspire every step. Our Academy Etiquette ensures a positive, inclusive environment for all. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us create a positive and focussed learning environment for all our students.

If you have any questions, please visit our FAQ's for detailed information and helpful answers.

For Our Students

Shine Bright and Arrive Right

Be punctual and ready to dance with a positive attitude. Arriving on time sets the tone for a smooth and productive class where everyone can focus and have fun.

Dress for Success

Wear your BDA uniform proudly to move confidently and comfortably. All dancers should tie their hair back to keep it out of their faces. Dance shoes should never be worn outside - let’s keep them clean and ready for the studio!

Focus and Flow

Stay attentive to your teacher and save conversations for later. A focussed class is where growth and creativity thrive, ensuring everyone has an amazing time.

Kindness is Key

Support and encourage your fellow dancers. We’re more than a class; we’re a family that grows stronger through respect and teamwork.

Unplug to Dance

Keep mobile phones, tablets and gadgets stored away during class. Let’s stay in the moment and fully immerse ourselves in the joy of dancing.

Safety Starts With You

Be aware of your surroundings, give others space and remove any jewellery or watches before class. A safe studio is a happy studio!

Energy and Enthusiasm

Bring your best energy to class every day. Listen to your teacher, stay engaged and let your passion for dance shine through.

Respect the Academy

Help keep our Academy clean and organised. No food, gum or messes and leave valuables at home. If you spot anything out of place or unsafe, let your teacher or Student Support staff know immediately.

Follow the Golden Rules

Every dancer contributes to the positive vibe of the studio by respecting the rules. Walk, don’t run and always treat the Academy and your peers with care.

For Our Parents and Guardians

Maintain a Quiet Atmosphere

Please maintain a quiet atmosphere in the waiting area. Keeping noise levels low helps to avoid disrupting the ongoing classes. If you need to use your phone for calls, videos or music, we request that you use headphones and speak in soft, respectful tones to avoid causing distractions.

No Eating or Drinking

We ask that no food or beverages (except water) be consumed in the waiting area to help keep the space clean and pleasant for everyone.

Supervise Younger Children

If you have other children with you, please ensure they remain seated and occupied with quiet activities, such as reading or using tablets with headphones. Running, shouting or disruptive play is not permitted to maintain a calm environment for all parents and students.

Parents of Students Under 5 Years Old

Parents or guardians of students under 5 years old must remain inside the Academy during class to assist with any toilet or care requirements.

Keep the Area Tidy

Please make an effort to keep the area tidy by cleaning up after yourself and your children. Rubbish should be disposed of in the bins provided to ensure the waiting area remains welcoming for everyone.

Respect Class Start and End Times

It is important to respect class start and end times. Arrive on time to drop off and pick up your student and avoid congregating near studio doors during class to prevent unnecessary distractions. If you need to speak with the teacher, kindly wait until classes are finished.

Use Technology Considerately

Use technology considerately by ensuring phones and tablets are on silent mode while in the waiting area. We also ask that you refrain from taking photos or videos.

Health and Safety

If you or your child are feeling unwell, please stay home to protect others. Follow any additional health guidelines that may be in place to ensure the safety of all attendees.
